The recent decision by the Colorado Supreme Court to exclude Donald Trump from the state's presidential primary ballot has sparked backlash, particularly from U.S. Representative Tom Tiffany (R-WI). Tiffany contends that this ruling infringes upon the electoral rights of Americans and represents a clear intrusion into the democratic process.

U.S. Representative Tom Tiffany (R-WI) expressed his disapproval, stating, "The Colorado Supreme Court is taking away Americans’ voice in our elections". He further added, "This brazen election interference should concern every American."

As reported by AP News, the Colorado Supreme Court utilized Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to disqualify former President Trump from the state's primary ballot. The justices, appointed by Democratic governors, invoked the U.S. Constitution’s insurrection clause for their decision - a first-time application of this section in barring a presidential candidate. This ruling overturned a district judge's earlier decision which had recognized Trump's alleged incitement of the Capitol attack but did not bar him from the ballot due to uncertainty over whether this provision was intended for presidential disqualification.

In its decision, as quoted by AP News, the Colorado Supreme Court stated: "We do not reach these conclusions lightly. We are mindful of the magnitude and weight of the questions now before us. We are likewise mindful of our solemn duty to apply the law, without fear or favor, and without being swayed by public reaction to the decisions that the law mandates we reach."

Following this ruling, according to another AP News report, Trump's legal team pledged an immediate appeal. A spokeswoman for Trump's legal team criticized the ruling as an affront to democracy and expressed confidence in its reversal by the Supreme Court. The decision was described as 'tyrannical' by Trump's campaign while Ronna McDaniel, chairwoman of Republican National Committee labeled it 'Election interference' and pledged legal support in Trump's fight against the ruling.

As reported by Fox News, disqualification lawsuits regarding Trump's appearance on the ballot are currently pending in Wisconsin and 12 other states, including Texas and Nevada.
